In My Studio: Using Etsy Local

I have recently discovered the new Etsy Local feature on the website and Etsy App.
Its a great way for both sellers and buyers to connect at events and stores in and around your local area. Or to discover great events happening when you are travelling to new places.

For Buyers

Go to www.etsy.com/local or on the Etsy App click the local option at the top of the page.
Look at the map for the locations that your local Etsy sellers will be exhibiting at including events, pop up shops, markets, fairs and bricks and mortar stores.
You can easily scroll through the events and when you click on one it will give you all sorts of information about the event including which Etsy sellers will be there, hours and location and related websites.

When  using the app on an iphone or ipad the Etsy App will use your location as a basis for which to compile a list of events. If you want to look for events further afield you can type in your location at the top of the page at www.etsy.com/local.

For Sellers

This is a great way to get exposure for any events your are participating in.
When you have been accepted at an event you can add your Etsy shop to any of the events listed.

Click on the event and then click the blue 'I'm Participating' button. It will give you the option of writing a sentence on what visitors can expect to see at your booth.  It is also possible to add your own event if you are organizing a trunk show, pop up market or to advertise your brick and mortar store.

Once you have added your shop to an event it will say Upcoming Markets on the side bar of your Etsy shop page (right under your review stars and sales number). When visitors click on this it will give them the events you are doing like this:
See you out and about soon!
Good Luck and Good Making

Where To Find Hudson Valley Etsy This Weekend

"To see the Summer Sky Is Poetry, though never in a Book it lie, True Poems flee." Emily Dickinson

Sweet words from one of our most beloved poets capture the fleeting nature of summer days perfectly. It's time to experience and explore all the Valley has to offer while summer is in full bloom. Outdoor markets are a great way to enjoy a lovely summer day. Plan a day trip to The Makers' Market in the beautiful village of Warwick, N.Y. where You can meet Sue, from Digilio Designs.  Sue's nature inspired work pairs beautifully with Ms. Dickinson's words.

Meet our new members! Spring part 2

It might officially be summer now, but don't think that means we forgot about the new members that need to be introduced! What have you been up to since then? Shopping for goodies at the last group of new members' shops, I bet.  They were pretty awesome, but so is this batch. So, without further ado, I shall begin my introductions.

Avocado Pin. Punchneedle Embroidery by HarpandThistle

Erin and Corey of NY, NY make up the harp and thistle of HarpandThistle!  Their shop is full of wonderful and cute punch needle embroidery, ranging in size from mini to small and ready to hang on your wall, holiday tree, shirt, keys, neck or even on your skin! (There is a temporary tattoo.) I'm kind of in love with the avocados and their Easter collection.  Welcome to the team!

Erica G. Bushell is the mind and hands behind Incarnate Anew in Poughkeepsie, NY. She has filled her shop with metal, gemstone, and beaded jewelry, many with stamped accents flowing a celestial and geometric bend.  Her whole line has a wonderful earthy feel I just love, I can't wait to see what else she comes up with!  Nice to meet you.

artist designed limited edition packing tape: scarab blue by Lunule

Lunule is run by Susan Rowe Harrison of Dobbs Ferry, NY.  She does hand cut vinyl designs for all kinds of situations, and her shop is full of creations made with her designs.  I love the colors and designs, even the kid-like ones - and especially the chalkboard ones. Chalkboard things are always in my favorites. Glad to have you!

Autumn Scarecrow Note Cards by KmiotekArtWorks

Paul Kmiotek of Lake Carmel, NY created his shop KmiotekArtWorks to share his original artwork.  He is a wiz with pen and ink and I love his textures and use of selective coloring. Most of his pieces are of animals, but houses and flowers grace his paper as well.  Much of his work is available on note cards or as prints, but he even has some on wooden magnets and in a book! Great work!

Undyed Heavy Goat Splits - Vegetable Tanned by PergamenaNY

PergamenaNY creates in Montgomery, NY.  Their shop is full of vegetable tanned leathers, some dyed with a water-soluble aniline dye in some great colors.  They have a couple different thicknesses depending on what you're going to use it for, and even have some examples of what the leather can be used for in their shop, such as a leather bound journal.  I've never made a leather mask, but some of the colors makes me feel like I should be! So soft.  Welcome!

What a fun group that was!  I can't wait to see what new members we'll get next time.  Until then, keep on keeping on and keep in mind our local sellers for whatever shopping needs you happen to have - or at least lend them some support by talking about them to your friends.

Enjoy!

Meet our new members! Spring part 1

Well it feels like we skipped right over spring and went into summer, but still I have some great new members to show you now that it's just getting hot.  There were so many great shops this time around, I had to split it up into two parts, so keep an eye out for the next installment!  As always, please stop by our awesome new members' shops, say hello, and maybe pickup something great to treat yourself - or someone else - while you're at it.

Tooth Fairy Pillow by RightHem

First off is Right Hemisphere by Patrice, who does her work in Peekskill, New York.  Most of her creations are unique and fun soft creations like pillows and super cool tooth fairy pillows, but she has some cards and wood-burned door pulls, too.  You should really check out the tooth fairy pillows. They're awesome!  Happy to have you on the team.

3 Hand Cut Custom Silhouette Portraits - each 4" × 6" by SilhouettesbyElle
Silhouettes by Elle does her creating in Croton-on-Hudson in NY.  Her shop is full of awesome hand-cut silhouette artworks, many of which are custom made to be whoever it is you want silhouetted, including pets, kids, and wedding memories!  I'm a huge fan of silhouettes, especially on jewelry, and look! She has those too!  I'm a fan, glad to have you.

Organic Moroccan Mint Full Leaf 8 Tea Bags Pack by BeauTeaStudio
If I said I was a fan of silhouettes, I'm a super fan of tea!  And if you're the same check out BeauTeaStudio run by Jules and Olya in Montgomery, NY.  Their shop is full of delicious looking teas along with tea goods like infusers, tea cups, and bath and body products.  Earl Grey lip-balm anyone?   Welcome to the team!

Mira's Naturals 2oz. Sanitizing Spray by MirasNaturals
Meghann Reimondo of MirasNaturals mixes up her creations in Woodstock, NY.   She fills her shop with wonderful bath, body, and home goods many of which are made of bee products!  She even has some unique goods like her sanitizing spray which comes in a bottle with a bee on it that I just love, and even deodorant.  I wish I could smell her home after she's done creating.  Hope you like it here!

Just a note - notebook by pveshop
pve design does their art in Ardsley, NY.  This shop is full of lovely watercolor and ink illustrations both as originals and prints.  You can also get custom pieces made of your home or business.  I personally love working in watercolors, and these ones have some great colors and styles that I just adore!  I wish I had a house to get an illustration of.  Thanks for joining us.

There's more where that came from! Check back later to see 5 more new member shops that also have wonderful creations of their own. I can't wait to share them with you.

Enjoy,
Amber
